Hi-Cap UK how we have performed so far in 2010
We set out this year to fulfill the objectives that had been set by the Freda Casagrande. She had identified families when visiting the rural areas of Nepal in 2008. After a successful year in 2009 when time had been spent investigating and doing some work to build up relationships in the Manang and Lamjung areas.
The objectives for 2010 are shown below, how we have fulfilled them or are still working on them is shown below:
1. Arrange Art competition with 3 schools in the Himalayan area.
The competition details went out in March they were collected by our project manager Binod and sent to the UK we sent them on to Barbara Freeman a professional artist in Northern Ireland for judging. In August Freda will visit the schools to present prizes. Below last year’s prize presentation.
2. Rama in need of eye investigation.
Our project manager set about finding Rama again following Freda’s visit in 2008 and a full investigation was carried out. Unfortunately we were to be told that we were too late for any work to be done on her eye it should have been done when she was a small child. We will be support her educational requirement in 2011. She is now looking so much better with glasses.

Two children needing education Suman from Old Jagot and Sanjay from Bahundanda Lumjang.
Both children are from families that are in severe poverty. Hi-Cap found a sponsor for both children and they are in residential school. Soon they will be moving to a school offering more facilities and better creative activities. This has been arranged following Freda’s visit in August.
Suman and Sanjay participating in school art competition.
Sanjay and Suman's first zoo visit.
Suman’s story prior to an education. He was in need of a Major foot operation.
This has been carried out through Hi-Cap UK’s financial assistance. Hi-Cap also purchased a wheelchair to aid his recovery. The doctors have confirmed that operation was a success.

3. Home for Sanjay and Grandfather.

Following this Sanjay has began to speak and communicate with his peers, and teachers they say he is very bright.
Repair to watermill for Suman’s father.
This work has been completed and Suman’s father is now earning on average 250 Rupee’s a day about £2.00 this will help him to sustain a living for his family.

Watermill owned by Suman's father. This mill has been destroyed and with the support provided by Hicap UK. It is running with its full efficiency and Suman's father earning enough for his family to feed.

These were our objectives that we set out for this year as you can see we have made a lot of progress. We have done other small types of work that we have stumbled on in the process.
During our project managers visits he found some very sad cases that required our help, these will be listed with our 2011 objectives some of the cases are shown below:
Project that needs to be addressed in the year 2011
One child Bijay has now been supported with school stationery which is paid for every month this helps his family a great deal. We hope to do more for him and his family in 2011.

Above picture is Bijay Tamang, we hope to support his medical treatment which means that he needs to go through a serious operation which could more that than £1,800. This is huge sum for his parents and also for us. We are hoping that we can raise enough money so that this child can have a good consultation leading to a specialised operation. Bijay suffers from severe Scoliosis the hospital that treated Suman have done many previous operations with regard to Scoliosis and they assure us that the operations have been successful . His parents are very happy that he is receiving some help from Hi-Cap UK for his school books. Most of the time Bijay cannot manage to get to school by himself as he feels dizzy after he has walked for a while and falls down, his parents are praying for his well being and support from us.
KANCHI TAMANG.
She was born with disease and as she grew up her body started taking shape as shown in the pictures above. Doctors say this is very critical situation as this is also rare case. We are trying to get her to the hospital where we took care for Suman’s successful operation. We are trying to give families goats, chickens for their sustainability.
SSarita Pariyar(Sister to Sanjay)
Above is a picture of Sanjay’s sister Binod e-mailed me with these words “ she is a really cute girl. Upon my arriving at her place she asked me for her brother”. We would like to sponsor her education at the same school that we have sent her brother. We would hope to fulfil this objective very soon in

SUMITRA and PUSHPA
Sumitra and Pushpa are two sisters from a village called Nayagaun in Lamjung district. They came in my contact to us through a local resident of Sanjay’s when our project manager was visiting to see Sanjay’s grandfather. These children lost their parents and are looked after by one of their cousins and are all living under severe poverty.
BUDDHI BAHADUR TAMANG.
The boy named Buddhi Bahadur tamang from udipur V.D.C of Lamjung district has some infection in his eyes and lives with his cousins. His father recently died and his mother is living with physical disability. Buddhi has a desire to go to school but due to the poverty in which he lives this is not possible.

Ganga lives in remote village with her four daughters. She used to run a tea shop in village to sustain her family. After her husbands death 2 years back she could not manage to run this shop as she very badly went under debt. Hi-Cap identified this family upon our regular visit to this village for Sanjay’s grandfather’s house. She lives in a rented house which could be turned into nice residential home for tourists visiting in this place. We have promised to give her a life supporting to run her tea house and sustain.
